When I first started looking at bamboo linens, I had heard how wonderful the sheets were and I was interested in trying a set. I was hooked right away.

As I researched bamboo sheets, I was convinced this amassing grass will play a big part in our future. At that point I decided to build a website and market bamboo bedding.

Bamboo is a sustainable resource, growing up to as much as a foot a day. It is hardy and pest resistant, so pesticides are not used in the growing process.

Bamboo is just now beginning to become popular in the Western World. The Asians have utilized bamboo for centuries from the making fighting sticks , for housing, paper, clothing and let’s not forget as a food.

With new technology new products are appearing at a rapid rate. Here in the United States we are seeing bamboo bedding and bamboo apparel becoming popular. We wear it, use it to decorate, manufacturing furniture, window coverings and for flooring in our homes. You can also use bamboo in quilting as they are making batting with bamboo fabric. There are some bamboos that are stronger than steel. The US military is developing a bamboo bandage for use in the field. The bamboo bandage is absorbent and has anti-bacterial properties that help the healing process.

Bamboo charcoal is used the purify water. the list goes on.

Give Bamboo Bedding a try. Going Green never felt so good.

Common Bedding Questions Answered

Most mattresses are 12 to 20 inches in depth. Most manufactures are now making sheets with deep pockets and deeper sides to accommodate the depth of the mattress. In addition, most fitted sheets are manufactured with elastic corners, so even the deepest pocket will fit nice and snug

Bamboo usually has a thread count of 250. Because of the way it is manufactured the fibers are more comfortable than higher thread count.

To keep your sheets from wrinkling take them of the dryer as soon as the cycle is over fluff and fold. I haven’t found a magic way to fold the fitted sheets, I am not sure there is one.

Pilling is common in all fabrics, more so with fabricated products such as polyester and acrylics. Cotton, linen and bamboo will also pill, but will wash away during the wash cycle. To help minimize pilling reduce your wash time and do not over stuff your machine. Use of a fabric softener will also help.

Environmental Benefits of Bamboo

Bamboo fiber is a revolutionary new fabric that has unparalleled advantages, including strength, versatility and luxurious softness.

Bamboo gives us clean air to breathe, it consumes carbon dioxide and returns 30% more oxygen to the atmosphere than trees.

Bamboo is changing the world, not by providing environmental benefits but by helping poorer countries to gain a place in the world market place by farming bamboo. Bamboo has been nicked name “the wise man timber”.

Bamboo requires less energy and water to grow. Bamboo plantations require very little maintenance. Bamboo also requires very little water and can survive drought conditions as well as flooding.

Bamboo is being used to reclaim land because of its rapid growth and root structure, bamboo can, in a very short time, reclaim land destroyed by overgrazing and over-building.

Bamboo can be grown without pesticides or chemicals because of it’s own anti-bacterial agent.

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet, making it a high yield renewable resource. It is capable of complete regeneration without need to replant.

Another bamboo product is bamboo charcoal. Research in progress to test the ability to absorb harmful chemicals and purify water.

The power to help the environment and change the world is in your hands. Making even the tiniest change can help.

How is Bamboo fiber manufactured?

How is Bamboo fiber manufactured?

Much like the paper-making process, the bamboo pulp needs to be broken down and separated until it becomes cellulose, which can then be spun in to thread and woven in to fabric. Chemicals are used to break down the cellulose which is multi-phase process.

the cellulose is then spun into bamboo thread, and finally, woven fabrics. This process is commonly referred to as ‘viscose’. However, due to the growing demand for bamboo fiber and the environmental impact of the chemicals used in the processing, manufacturers are working on developing less intensive methods. One such method is the same that is used to produce lycocell from wood products (we know it as Tencel in clothing). This is a “closed loop” process that uses non-toxic chemicals where 99.5% of the chemicals are captured and recycled and re-used. This is a much more eco-friendly and healthy method.

Currently, China is the only manufacturer of bamboo fiber, leaving no local alternatives to source from. While there are no North American producers at this time, some clothing manufacturers are purchasing the thread and yarns anaqweqwem,knnbuytttyyygfdfdrerewwqsddf22z/.233

Easier on sensitive skin – The fabric inhibits bacterial metabolism causing fewer allergic skin reactions than other fibers .

Reduces Static buildup – Bamboo fabric is really a conductive material so it keeps a balanced charge in fabric to reduce static buildup.

Superior Washing and Durability – Bamboo fibers are quick-drying. The fabric may be washed numerous times with no adverse effects.

Moisture Regulation – Bamboo yarn has a cross-section weave filled with various micro-gaps and micro-holes compared to conventional fabrics, it is better at moisture absorption and ventilation. The fabric keeps the wearer dry and comfortable.

While the bamboo fabric technology is still relatively new, only gaining momentum in Asia from the mid-1990s, its uses are growing widespread ranging from clothing to carpeting to bedding. As we look towards more environmentally friendly fabrics that offer the same feel and durability of synthetic fabrics, bamboo is often a surprising but strong contender.

The world’s most renewable resource bamboo viscose, offers a wide selection of fashion trends from bamboo clothing to bedding to luxurious bath towels.

Luxury bamboo bath towels

My friends and I jumped on the green bandwagon a few years ago and I’m still constantly amazed by the luxury eco-friendly items available. Among my favorite green luxury items has to be my bamboo bath towels set. They were given to me as a birthday gift and the second I touched the fabric I knew I could never go back to my old cotton towels. The fabric has a soft suede like feel that’s just wonderful on bare skin.

Upon further investigation, I learned that bamboo bath towels are 50 percent more absorbent than traditional cotton bath towels. In other words, those high thread count Egyptian cotton bath towels you could pay a fortune for don’t get the job done as quickly as a bamboo bath towel. No pesticides or harsh chemicals are used in the creation of bamboo fabric so you can rest easy that you won’t be introducing any harmful substances to your home. The fact that bamboo fabric is considered a sustainable textile is just icing on the cake!

I love visiting show rooms at home goods stores. It fuels my creativity to see all the different colors, patterns, furnishings, and accessories mixed together in all different styles. Often I incorporate the best ideas into my own home. On my latest trip I noticed a lot of bamboo being used in bathrooms.

I decided to investigate further and found that there is plenty of demand for bamboo bath accessories. Bamboo is popular among the green crowd because of its sustainability, but it is also popular in the main stream for its beautiful color and ability to put the viewer in a tranquil mood. I’ve since added a bamboo bath mat and shower caddy to my own bathroom. I love how the pieces are naturally water resistant and easy to clean. Next on my bamboo bathroom shopping list will be a bamboo bathrobe!

Benefits of Bamboo Fabric

When people think of bamboo, the first thing that likely comes to mind is the bamboo tree of Asian descent, followed by bamboo chutes (common in Asian food dishes). Few people would think of bamboo as a fabric. But bamboo fabrics made from pure bamboo fiber yarns can make excellent clothing. The trait of interest in bamboo material is its unusual ability to breathe, and its coolness. Because bamboo fiber is filled with micro-gaps and micro-holes (a physical trait of the material), a bamboo fabric has better moisture absorption and ventilation. Bamboo fiber apparel absorbs and evaporates human sweat in a split second, and thus garments feel cool and comfortable in hot weather.

Despite bamboo fabric being on the fringe of the mainstream, products such as bamboo bed linen, clothing and accessories are manufactured and available for purchase over the internet and in specialty stores.
